They walked the trail.....

a Jalagi
(Remember the Cherokee)

They walked the trail,
With tears in their eyes,
Slowly they trudged,
Heads hanging low,
Eyes dull with pain.
Leaving their homes,
Their families,
Their friends,
Their future uncertain,
In a land not their own.
Hated by some,
Feared by others,
Stripped of their pride,
Their lands,
Their ways.
Cold, hungry, alone,
They walked dejected,
The Trail Where They Cried.
